News: Detailed plans are in!

By Vicki Costello on 11 June 2008 | 5 Comments

Congratulations to all the Big Green Challengers who submitted detailed plans on Monday.  All the groups have worked incredibly hard over the last month or so, getting to grips with honing their ideas, clarifying their aims, and mapping the people, skills, timescales and finances needed to make their projects successful.  This is a very exicting moment for the Big Green Challenge team.  We’ve really enjoyed meeting the Big Green Challengers at our support events over the past month, and can’t wait to get to grips with their ideas in more detail - both for the judging process and also so we can work with these groups to can better understand the potential impact these new forms of community led action.

I hope that the one hundred groups find someway of making an online community together. It’s been an inspiration just rising to the challenge and seeing the level of response. It will be of real support if we can all connect and find ways of working together.

Hi Shane, why not look at the website for the Low Carbon Communities Conference in October? I’m sure all the shortlisted Nesta groups have a story to share (several were at last year’s event). There are already many communities signed up to attend and listed on the blog roll.
    Good luck

It’s been inspiring to be part of this for us all here in Chester!

Thank you for your comments. It’s great to hear that the Big Green Challenge is providing inspiration for the groups taking part. I agree that it feels motivating just seeing the level of collective response.

Picking up on your comment Shane, we hope a sense of wider community will develop amongst all the Big Green Challengers. This pioneering group has the potential to demonstrate what can be achieved through new forms of community action, and the potenial to develop better understanding about opportunities and barriers. As Tracey mentions, our Big Green Challengers will also be able to strengthen this sense of collective action by connecting with other emerging networks and sharing their ideas and experiences with others.

Do any more of our Big Green Challengers, or other groups, have ideas on how to work collectively to share ideas and jointly understand opportunities and challenges?
