More about eligibility
Is our group eligible?
To enter the Big Green Challenge you will need to think about the following:
If you are an individual who is not part of a group or organisation
Individuals are not eligible to enter the Big Green Challenge. Think about the groups you might have links to (for example you might know of, or have some connection to, a charity, voluntary organisation or an interest-based group). Consider approaching them to ask whether they’d be interested in submitting an application involving you.
Think about people you know, who you have some shared connection with - perhaps you all live in the same area or share an interest. Consider approaching them to ask whether they’d be interested in forming a new group to submit an application to the Big Green Challenge.
If you are a for-profit company
The Big Green Challenge is not open to for-profit companies, except for Community Interest Companies and Social Enterprises.
However, you might have links with a not-for-profit group and consider working with them to support or collaborate on the development of their ideas. The not-for-profit group will need to lead the application.
Alternatively, if you are interested in supporting the Big Green Challenge as a whole please contact us at partners@biggreenchallenge.org.uk.
If you are based outside the UK
Groups and organisations based outside the UK are not eligible to apply for the Big Green Challenge.
However, you could get involved by developing links with a Big Green Challenge applicant.
If you are a public body
The Big Green Challenge is not open to Public Bodies, except for Parish, Town, and Community Councils.
Schools and universities that are public bodies are not normally eligible to apply, unless they are registered charities. Of course we welcome the participation of schools and universities in Big Green Challenge projects, and some organisations connected to universities such as PTAs, or NUS branches can apply.
If you are another type of public body you can’t apply. However, you could get involved in supporting a Big Green Challenge application from others.
Alternatively, if you are interested in supporting the Big Green Challenge as a whole, please contact us at partners@biggreenchallenge.org.uk.
